We’ve got some important information about what you can expect to happen on the CoinMetro platform during the upcoming Ethereum London Hard Fork.
It’s an exciting time not just for the Ethereum blockchain, but for the crypto world as a whole! The London Hard Fork will bring several highly anticipated Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) to the network, and improve the overall efficiency & ease-of-use of Ethereum.
The Ethereum blockchain is scheduled to undergo the London Hard Fork at block 12,965,000, which is expected around 11:55 UTC on August 5th.
This London Hard Fork will implement five different upgrades, or EIPs. EIP-1559 is the most anticipated because it will introduce a ‘base fee’ that tracks gas prices. It will make it much easier to estimate the right price for transactions. Other updates include delaying the end of proof-of-work mining to December 2021 and a reduction in refunds. Learn more about thefull list of impending updates here.
Coinmetro is handling the technical side of this exciting update to ensure a smooth transition for our users. However, we will be suspending deposits & withdrawals for ETH and all ERC-20 tokens for a couple of hours starting at 11:00am UTC on Thursday, August 5th. We will resume support for deposits and withdrawals as soon as it is safe to do so!
Therefore, please ensure that you leave sufficient time for any ETH or ERC-20 token transfers/transactions to be fully processed prior the time stated above.
This downtime will NOT effect trading activities. Users will still be able to swap or trade ETH & ERC-20 tokens on CoinMetro during the brief window that deposits & withdrawals are suspended.
