What Is FLUX Network?

Flux is a decentralized cloud infrastructure project (DePIN) designed to compete with traditional cloud service providers like AWS or Google Cloud. Instead of centralized data centers, Flux leverages a global network of thousands of independently operated nodes. The protocol's consensus model, Proof of Useful Work (PoUW), allows the network's vast GPU computing power to be rented out for practical applications, such as AI model training, video rendering, and scientific research.

Major Protocol Developments (2024–2026)

The Flux ecosystem has recently transitioned key components of its infrastructure to support high-performance computing:

PoUW v2 Launch (October 2025): Flux completed the transition to Proof of Useful Work v2. This upgrade formally shifted the network's focus from traditional crypto-mining to "useful" validation, where nodes earn rewards for processing real-world computational workloads.

FluxEdge Marketplace: In late 2025, the project expanded FluxEdge, a decentralized compute marketplace. This platform connects users needing heavy compute power with hardware providers (node operators) who have idle GPU capacity, optimizing resource usage across the network.

SSP (Sigma Swap Protocol): The ecosystem integrated SSP, a non-custodial wallet and atomic swap protocol, enabling secure, key-based trading of assets across the Flux parallel asset ecosystem without centralized intermediaries.

Token Utility & Governance

The FLUX token serves multiple verified functions within the economy:

Node Collateral: To run a node and earn rewards, operators must lock a specific amount of FLUX (e.g., 1,000 FLUX for a Cumulus node). This collateral aligns operator incentives with network health.

Resource Payment: FLUX is the currency used to pay for hosting applications, deploying Docker containers, and renting GPU power on FluxEdge.

Governance (XDAO): FLUX holders utilize the XDAO to vote on protocol proposals, including fee structures and grant allocations.
