Coinmetro Supports the MKR → SKY and DAI → USDS Migration

The MakerDAO ecosystem is entering a new chapter — and Coinmetro is here to support it. Starting this September, MKR holders will upgrade to SKY, and DAI holders will upgrade to USDS.
This change is part of the launch of the Sky Protocol, the next evolution of MakerDAO. SKY inherits MKR’s governance rights, expands access to participation, and introduces new staking rewards, while USDS becomes the new stablecoin issued through the protocol.
At Coinmetro, we’re ensuring this transition is seamless for our users.
If you are currently trading MKR or DAI on Coinmetro, please be aware:
👉 All Spot and Margin positions in MKR and DAI must be closed before 11 September 2025 at 20:00 UTC.
At that time, trading and deposits for MKR and DAI will be disabled. Any trades still open after this deadline will be force-closed on 12 September.
Withdrawals for MKR and DAI will remain open until 16 September, but no action is required if you wish to participate in the automatic conversion.
- 11 Sept 2025 – 20:00 UTC → Trading and deposits for MKR and DAI disabled.
- 12 Sept 2025 → All remaining open trades in MKR and DAI closed by Coinmetro.
- 16 Sept 2025 – 23:59 UTC → Withdrawals for MKR and DAI remain available until this time.
- 17 Sept 2025 – 12:00 UTC → SKY and USDS listed on Coinmetro.
- 17 Sept 2025 – 13:00 UTC → Remaining MKR automatically converted to SKY, and DAI converted to USDS.
- 17 Sept 2025 – 14:00 UTC → Deposits, withdrawals, and Spot trading enabled for SKY and USDS.
If you simply hold MKR or DAI in your account, you don’t need to take any action — your balances will be automatically updated.
- SKY is the evolution of MKR — the governance token of the Sky Protocol.
- 1 MKR = 24,000 SKY — a conversion designed to broaden access and increase participation.
- SKY carries forward MKR’s governance rights, enabling you to vote directly or delegate voting power in the Sky ecosystem.
- Only SKY enables access to Staking Rewards and the Staking Engine, where holders can earn rewards, delegate votes, and borrow USDS.
- Unlike MKR, SKY cannot be converted back — the migration is one-way.
- USDS is the upgraded version of DAI — a stable, decentralized currency of the Sky Protocol.
- It continues DAI’s mission of providing stability and accessibility in DeFi, but under the new Sky governance framework.
Users who upgrade their MKR to SKY before September 18, 2025 will do so at full value, without penalties. After that, the Delayed Upgrade Penalty begins, gradually reducing the amount of SKY received for each MKR upgraded.
By supporting this migration on Coinmetro, we’re ensuring our users are upgraded automatically, on time, and at full value.
If you hold MKR or DAI in Coinmetro and are not trading, your balances will automatically be updated to SKY and USDS after the migration.
If you are trading, close your positions before 11 September at 20:00 UTC to avoid forced closures.
The transition to SKY and USDS is more than a token upgrade — it’s the beginning of a more resilient, scalable, and inclusive ecosystem for governance and DeFi participation.
Coinmetro is proud to support this milestone for MakerDAO and the Sky Protocol, and to make it simple, safe, and seamless for our community.
