Key Players in the Crypto-Verse

03.09.2018

We always discuss ideas, but rarely the Crypto people behind the ideas. Cryptocurrencies are hotter than ever, so we decided to dedicate one of our articles to the biggest names in the Crypto-verse. How many have you never heard of?

For those hoping to find out something about Satoshi Nakamoto, there’ll be no mention of him. Not even once. Can you guess why? Correct, the identity of Bitcoin’s creator remains a mystery, whereas we want to focus on real people with real names.

Here’s our top list of most influential people in blockchain. In case you was wondering, our list isn’t arranged in alphabetical order or order of importance. They’re all equally great.

Andreas Antonopoulos

Andreas, a security and distributed systems expert, is the greatest advocate of the Bitcoin technology and the famous author of Mastering Bitcoin, a universal guide to Bitcoin.

He is also well-known as a proactive public speaker, spreading the word about Cryptos and Bitcoin in particular at blockchain and security conferences worldwide.

Further, Antonopoulos offers strategic consulting to Crypto companies as well as expert witness testimony as an expert in the security field.

Vitalik Buterin

Vitalik Buterin is known for being a co-founder genius of Ethereum, the second most valuable digital currency today. Notably, Buterin was only a teenager when Ethereum was proposed back in 2013.

Ethereum is a blockchain network that is different from the Bitcoin blockchain. It was specifically designed to enable smart contract functionality.

Buterin remains the Chief Scientist of the Ethereum Foundation and leads Ether’s research team that maintains the core technology of the altcoin and works on future versions of the Ethereum protocol.

Brad K. Garlinghouse

Brad K. Garlinghouse is not only CEO of Ripple, but also an active angel investor in over 40 companies around the globe. Did you know that Ripple is currently the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap?

Prior to Ripple, Garlinghouse was active as President of Consumer Applications at AOL as well as held various positions at Yahoo!, including senior ones.

Charlie and Bobby Lee

Charlie Lee is best known as the founder of Litecoin, an altcoin created in 2011. Today, it is the third-oldest and one of the top cryptocurrencies in terms of market cap.

Charlie Lee is a former Google employee. He became so inspired by Bitcoin’s innovation and success that he decided to create his own digital currency. Litecoin, like many other coins, has technical similarities to Bitcoin and at the time of writing is the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Unbelievable, considering the fact that there are 1,910 Cryptos in total.

Bobby Lee, Charlie’s brother, is the CEO of China’s oldest Crypto exchange, BTCC. Further, he is a well-known Chinese commentator online and across the media.

Alex and Don Tapscott

Alex Tapscott is a writer, speaker, investor, and advisor known for his #1 best-seller Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money Business and the World, co-authored by his dad, Don Tapscott. The book has been translated in over 15 languages.

Don and Alex also co-founded the Blockchain Research Institute that boasts a brilliant team investigating blockchain technology and its use cases.

Elizabeth Stark

One of the biggest issues with Bitcoin is the increasing demand for the limited block space on its blockchain. The Lightning protocol may provide the solution to the problem.

What does Elizabeth Stark have to do with it? She is the CEO of Lightning Labs, driving the development of the Lightning protocol. There’s a lot of excitement for both Lighting Labs and Stark’s Vision.

Elizabeth is a big fan of open-source, decentralized protocols, building a programmable financial layer for the Internet through fast, scalable blockchain transactions.

Gilles Babinet

Gilles Babinet is a French entrepreneur, founder, and manager of a number of companies in the digital industry. In 2012, Babinet was appointed French digital champion by Fleur Pellerin, French minister of digital technologies.

Perianne Boring

Perianne Boring is Founder and President of The Digital Chamber of Commerce. Boring’s voice is a recognized one as she has been a blockchain commentator and public speaker for years now. In 2014, she founded the Digital Chamber of Commerce, which centers on US regulation of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Kevin Murcko

Kevin Murcko was a Crypto enthusiast even before the market boomed.

Kevin is known for bringing transparency to the Forex industry via his page-turning brand FXPIG. FXPIG remains one of the few Forex companies to develop and trade on their own technology, which is exactly the path Kevin’s new fintech baby, CoinMetro, is following. Once live, it will be the one-of-a-kind tokenized platform to push blockchain innovation and move Crypto forward, making it available for all.
